Managing Project Scopes
ProBreak projects into scopes to organize work phases and track progress at a granular level.
Scopes let you divide a project into distinct phases or work streams. Each scope can have its own budget, timeline, and team members. Scopes are available on the Pro plan.
Create a scope
- Open a project and go to the Scopes tab.
- Click New Scope.
- Enter a scope name (e.g., "Phase 1 - Discovery" or "Backend Development").
- Optionally, set a budget and date range for the scope.
- Click Create.
Track time against a scope
When creating a time entry for a project with scopes:
- Select the project as usual.
- A scope dropdown appears. Select the relevant scope.
- The time entry is tagged to that scope for reporting and budgeting.
Scope budgets
Each scope can have its own budget, independent of the project budget:
- Open the scope and go to Budget.
- Set a budget type (Hours or Amount) and value.
- Budget progress is tracked per scope.
Reorder and manage scopes
- Drag and drop scopes to reorder them.
- Edit a scope by clicking on it.
- Archive a scope when the phase is complete.
Tip: Scopes are particularly useful for long-running projects with distinct milestones or deliverables.
