Submitting Time for Approval

Submit your time entries for manager review when your organization uses approval workflows.

If your organization has enabled approval workflows, you need to submit your time entries for review before they can be invoiced. This article covers the submission process from the employee and contractor perspective.

Check if approval is required

Your organization admin controls whether approval is required. If approval is enabled, you'll see a Submit button on your timesheet.

Submit entries for a day or week

  1. Go to Time in the sidebar.
  2. Review your entries for the period you want to submit.
  3. Click Submit at the bottom of the daily or weekly view.
  4. All entries for that period are sent to your manager for review.

Tip: Make sure all entries are complete before submitting. You cannot edit submitted entries unless you withdraw them first.

Track submission status

Each time entry shows its approval status:

  • Draft — Not yet submitted. You can freely edit and delete.
  • Submitted — Sent for review. Editing is locked until withdrawn or returned.
  • Approved — Manager has approved the entry. It can now be invoiced.
  • Rejected — Manager has returned the entry with feedback. Edit and resubmit.

What happens after submission

Your manager receives a notification that time entries are waiting for their review. They can approve, reject, or return entries individually or in bulk.

If an entry is rejected, you'll receive a notification with the rejection reason. Edit the entry to address the feedback and resubmit.
